50 Ways To Hex Your Lover Has A Publication Date!

An Incredible Book You Have to Read!

I was very lucky to read an advance copy of M.J. Rose’s The Reincarnationist which will be out this coming Tuesday. All I can say is “wow!”

When I thought about talking about the book an old proverb came to mind. “All roads lead to Rome” In the case of The Reincarnationist the mystery begins in Ancient Rome where pagan priests and priestesses are targeted for extinction and a priest named Julius plots to leave the city with his lover, Sabina, who is a Vestal Virgin and would be killed for loving a man.

Josh Ryder first thought he was going insane from having the life-like visions after an accident; he later becomes convinced the visions are a pathway to a past life. Visiting an ancient gravesite outside of Rome that he shouldn’t even have known about convinces him he’s on the right path. But it’s the Memory Stones, once a myth and rumored to be the link between one’s past and present that Josh wants to pursue when they are stolen.

Many authors would have focused on Josh and Gabriella and what the stones could do for Josh to unravel the mysteries that haunt him. Instead, M.J. goes further intertwine another of Josh’s past life with a woman who’s connected to him and a murder that also connects the past and present.

I was pulled in from the first page with the vivid descriptions of Ancient Rome that I didn’t want to stop reading. I needed to know Josh was involved in his past life in Ancient Rome and 1884 New York City. Who was he meant to help in present day and what he would learn about himself? And where would it take him?

It’s the kind of book you can start in the evening and stay up all night to finish.

If you enjoy glimpses into the past, believe that we live our lives over and over, you need to pick up The Reincarnationist. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Muse, muse, who’s got the muse?

Growing up, my muse generally resembled characters in my favorite books. And since my favorite books were fairy tales my muse was more an elf or one of the Seven Dwarfs. Once I started writing professionally my muse decided to grow up too.    My muse changes faces according to my book and sometimes more than one muse pops up to tell me what to do.    Confusing? Not really. Or maybe I’m just used to it.

I used to think a little gargoyle resided in my head and whispered suggestions. It worked very well for me, easy to handle and I was a happy camper.    Then one day I had a witch named Jazz pop up to introduce herself while I was running errands. After that, my gargoyle seemed to take a long vacation and new muses took over. I have muses who love road trips. :} After that, they tended to show up in the car or in a store or wherever I happened to be instead of when I was sitting at the computer. And why I carry a small notebook in my purse and a small portfolio in the car. I can write very fast when waiting for the red light to turn green and learned to repeat things over and over and over until I can pull over to write down what my muse is telling me. And no way do I disregard my muse because trust me, an ignored muse is an angry muse. Not a pretty sight. My muse tends to morph into whichever character wants to be heard, so I listen and I write.

So far, my muse hasn’t steered me wrong even when I’m yelling, “You have got to be kidding me? You can’t do that!”    But it never fails. They prove they can do that. And more.

So don’t ignore your muse. They might get even.    Linda

Meet Krebs From Fifty Ways To Hex Your Lover

Happy July to you all!

I was hoping to have a publication date by now, but sadly, not yet. It will be soon since we’re getting into final stages for Fifty Ways To Hex Your Lover.

I thought it’s time to give you a further look at the characters that brings Hex to life. It wasn’t easy to decide who would be talking this month, so they drew lots and here’s the winner telling you all about himself.

                                       Hi from Krebs

Is it my real name? No. My real name is Jonathon Shaw the Third. Krebs came from Jazz after we watched an eighteen-hour marathon of Dobie Gillis reruns on TVLand. Jazz felt I was laid back like Maynard G. Krebs, although my type-A personality doesn’t freak out at the word “work”.

I’m 34 years old and every woman’s dream. As in I’m single, not bad looking, if I do say so myself, own a three-story Victorian styled home in Santa Monica near the boardwalk, have my own successful business as a website designer and I know out there is the perfect woman for me. One who will understand that my life isn’t exactly normal.

How can it be when I’m living with a witch who looks a hell of a lot younger than she is and most of the websites I design are for the undead and other creatures I’m entirely sure what they are and Jazz says I really don’t want to know?

I pretty much knew from the beginning that Jazz was a witch. I just didn’t know how much of a witch she was. As in she was around for World War I and maybe even the Civil War. So far all my attempts to find out her exact age haven’t worked, but it’s not stopping me. Some day I intend to find out just what all is in that witchy lady.

Not that I’m looking for a personal connection. We knew from the beginning we were meant to be good friends, not lovers. Plus she’s got a vampire hanging around and you don’t fool around with a vampire’s girlfriend. Not if you want to remain in one piece.

There’s more in the house than Jazz and myself. She’s got man-chomping-bunny slippers named Fluff and Puff. They might look all cute and adorable; at least, until you see those teeth of theirs, but trust me, they are nasty!

And then there’s Irma, a ghost that lives in Jazz’s car. I can’t see or hear her, but I’ve sensed something the few times I’ve ridden in the car. I really don’t think that passenger seat is safe for any guy!

So my life has been pretty interesting since Jazz came into it a few years ago.

And this is only the tip of the iceberg.

The still available Krebs.

Summer’s Coming But Writing Never Stops

Sorry I’ve been so quiet lately! But I’ve been dug in writing and all that real life stuff that intrudes. Such as the house is always much cleaner after I finish a book and before I dive into the next one. I just wish it would stay clean while I’m writing. Trust me, a writer’s life is so not glamorous when cleaning the bathroom!

First off, a change of title. Curses…Spoiled Again! is now titled 50 Ways To Hex Your Lover. Yes, I know the song is running through your head and I’m very tempted to give a Jazz spin to the song. I love the new title, but now I have hundreds of postcards with the old title on it!

I also worked up a new proposal for the next book about Jazz and friends which my editor has and I hope she loves just as much because a third idea has been creeping in there too and I hope to work that one up soon.

And if that’s not enough another witch series came to mind. Something not like Jazz and her witch sisters at all, but darker and edgier with an alternate world. Since I’m just beginning work on that it there’s not much to say there.

But I’ll be writing like the maniac I am this summer and I promise to share the news once I have a publication date for Hex and when I have the cover. I can’t wait to see how the artist sees Jazz! And hopefully, Fluff and Puff, the man-eating bunny slippers. And yes, I know you all hope for a glimpse of Nick on the cover too.

But to tide you over I’m including one of my favorite recipes. Chocolate, of course! And sooooo good!

So enjoy the beginning of summer and try this cake! You’ll want it all for yourself.

Mississippi Mud Cake

4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped peacans, optional
1 7oz. jar marshmallow creme
Levee frosting, see below

Levee Frosting

1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. vanilla extract
6 tbsp. milk
1 1lb. box powdered sugar

Spray 13×9 pan with Pam, set aside. Preheated 350 oven.

In large mixing bowl, beat eggs until thick. Gradually beat in sugar. Combine melted butter with flour, cocoa, vanilla, coconut and pecans. Add to egg-sugar mixture. Stir well with spoon. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 30 minutes or until done. Remove from oven. Immediately spread marshmallow creme gently on surface of cake. Prepare Levee frosting. Spread frosting gently over warm marshmallow creme, swirling to give a marbled effect.

The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

I know I haven’t been around for a while, but honest, I haven’t been killed off. First off, our RWA chapter is having its annual conference this weekend and I am chairing it. Ask me how glad I’ll be when it’s over! But we have a wondeful group of editors and agents coming, great workshops and we’ve filled every seat. so much for that.

My second novella for Ellora’s Cave, ONCE UPON A WEDDING, will be out under my pen name of Desiree Holt the 25th of this month. Desiree also has a novella, BEG ME, out this month from Triskelion Publishing. And in June she’ll be part of an erotic anthology with ten other authors of erotic romance. DESTINATION:PLEASURE, EROTIC ADVENTURES IN EXOTIC PLACES will be released by The Wild Rose Press.

As Judith rochelle I have the prequel to THE HIRED WIFE, a romantic suspense titled ECHOES OF THE PASTY not available from Triskelion, and the book of my heart, REDEMPTIKON, will be released by The Wild Rose Press on June 1 in ebook and July 27 in print. This is also a romantioc suspense and one of my favorites to write.

In august my first full elgnth novel for Ellora’s Cave, WHERE DANGER HIDES, will be released.

And finally, I cam back from RT ehilarated and exhausted but with a commitment from The Lotus circle, Jasmine-Jaid’s new imprint, to write a psuychic romantic suspense, MIND GAMES, and from Red Sage for an erotic shapeshifter novella, LINE OF SIGHT.

So I haven’t been sitting around staring at the walls, although some days I;d like to! LOL!

Come on over to my web sites - www.judithrochelle.com and www.desireeholt.com - to find otu more about my books and what’s happening with me. Meanwhile, Hi! to everyone.

Caridad’s Ides of March Contest — TODAY - March 15th

It’s March 15th and time for my Ides of March Contest!

Remember poor Julius Caesar and what happened to him on the Ides? Well, did you have a day where nothing went right? Or is there a moment where you were embarrassed beyond all belief?

Tell us a little bit about it today by midnight EST (or just drop by and leave a comment) and you could win the following:

DARKNESS CALLS (UK edition) autographed by Caridad
DREAMS AND DESIRES anthology autographed by Lois Winston
KISSES TO GO autographed by Irene Peterson
OVER THE MOON autographed by Virginia Kantra
TWO WEEKS WITH A STRANGER autographed by Debra Mullins

To get you all started, here’s one of my most embarrassing moments!

I had lost some weight and was on my way to work. Suddenly I felt something sliding down beneath my dress and I couldn’t get a hold of it. Next thing I knew, I was standing at the exit to the subway station with my slip down around my ankles. Somehow I managed to step out of it before anyone noticed (or if they did, no one did a thing in typical New York style!)

Do you have a moment like this that you would rather forget? If you do, spill the beans for us at www.caridad.com!

Remember: Please post all entries for the contest at www.caridad.com/blog
